Our Approach

Since our establishment in 2022, we have dedicated ourselves in sharing cutting-edge technology and enhancing practical expertise in aquaculture, fisheries, and post-harvest practices. Our comprehensive curriculum includes hands-on training, awareness programs, seminars and workshops. Our goal is to benefit students, researchers, entrepreneurs, aqua farmers, professionals, and fishers alike.

State-of-the-Art Facilities

Our centre boasts spacious classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, seminar halls and a conference hall with audio-visual aids. Our advanced laboratories feature equipment for soil and water analysis, microbiology, histopathology, RT-PCR, and ELISA. We’re also in the process of renovating a wet laboratory for conducting live animal experiments and research projects.

Achievements

To date, we’ve successfully conducted 18 skill development programs and trained 604 candidates which include 404 are students. Among the trained students , 220 candidates secured employment in aquaculture and allied sectors, thanks to the valuable insights shared by eminent experts from national and international institutes.

Our Training Programs

Recognizing the need for skilled manpower, we offer three distinct training programs:

  • Shrimp Hatchery Operation and Management: From the fundamentals of shrimp biology to advanced techniques in hatchery management, this program equips you with the knowledge and practical skills needed to excel in the dynamic world of aquaculture.
  • Shrimp Farming and Better Management Practices: From understanding the delicate balance of aquatic life to hands-on conservation practices, this program empowers you with the expertise to preserve and protect our valuable water environments.
  • Shrimp Processing and Quality Assurance for Export: From mastering the details of shrimp biology to hands-on techniques in hygiene handling of the shrimp produce, pre-processing, grading, processing, CCPs, HACCP ,cold storage ,ETP management etc., this program equips you with the knowledge and practical skills needed to excel in the quality production and assurance for export.

Each program spans 30 or 90 days and consists of subject orientation and practical training at our centre, followed by hands-on experience at relevant workstations (Hatchery/Farm/Processing Plant).

Eligibility

  • BSc/BFSc Graduates and MSc/MFSc Final or Passed Out Post Graduates with Zoology/ Fisheries/ Aquaculture/ Marine Biology/ Marine Biotechnology/ Coastal Aquaculture/ Microbiology
  • For Industry sponsored candidates, the educational qualifications are relaxed, but should have at least 1 year experience at a workstation and knowledge of English.
  • Final Selection is at the discretion of the Committee.

The Duration of each training programme ranges from 30 or 90 days, as per the requirement of the candidates . 

In 30 days programmes,  10-15 days in-house orientation and hands-on practical  @ ASDC and 15-20 days in-house orientation and hands-on practical  @ ASDC and 15-20 days hands-on training in respective workstations.

In 90 days programmes, 30 days in-house orientation and hands-on practical  @ ASDC and 60  days hands-on training in respective workstations. In  30 or  90 days programmes, theory/orientation and in-house practical will be the same.

The AU-Avanti Aquaculture Skill Development Centre will also conduct  DEMAND DRIVEN  Skill Development programmes on various aspects of aquaculture.
